Our claim

Coaching contributes to the well-being of people and the development of people and organizations. The demand for coaches in the corporate and private markets is on the rise. The supply of coaches is also increasing. Organizations are looking for assurance, and the market is increasingly demanding transparency through certification.

A certified NOBCO coach:

  • is trained for the coaching profession;
  • works according to the International Code of Ethics and is accountable for this through a complaints procedure;
  • has coaching experience that is demonstrable and visible through certification;
  • keeps up with the profession through continuing education and peer review or supervision.

You are more likely to have a good experience with a coach who has signed the International Code of Ethics and is accountable through a complaints procedure.

Who are we here for?

NOBCO is here for everyone involved in coaching. Are you a coach, looking for a coach, are you an educator, HR professional, scientist or would you like to partner with us as an organization? Then join us. Together we work on our mission to further develop the coaching profession and make it available.

International Code of Ethics

The International Code of Ethics | IEC provides guidelines for professional, transparent and uniform practices for coaches. The IEC describes how to deal with issues such as integrity, professional and excellent conduct, contracting, (own) responsibility and confidentiality as a professional coach. By joining NOBCO, you commit to following the IEC.

Complaints procedure

Do you have a complaint about your NOBCO coach that you cannot resolve with him or her? If so, it is possible to file a complaint about a NOBCO-affiliated coach. How your complaint will be handled is described in the Complaint Regulations.

Complaints may relate to any part of the professional conduct of a NOBCO-affiliated coach. To assess whether a complaint has merit, we particularly look to the International Code of Ethics (IEC). The committees determine whether the coach has acted as should be expected of a coach, given the IEC.

Coaching process step-by-step plan

1. Introduction

A coaching program begins with an introductory meeting or intake. This meeting is usually free of charge. The introduction is designed to find out whether you and the coach are a good match. During this meeting, you will discuss your coaching question, what you want to get out of your coaching program and set your coaching goals.

2. Sessions

When you decide to enter the coaching program, you will set your personal goals with your coach. Based on questions such as: what do I want, what do I need, and what can you do to achieve your desired outcome, your coach will create a realistic and appropriate plan of action. In consultation, it is also possible to take a test.

3. Evaluation

During the final session, you look back on the coaching process and answer questions such as: were the goals achieved? How far along are you and what do you want to take on in the future? If you feel the need, you can schedule another meeting after a certain time to discuss how things are going.
